Touchstone only produces Canadian plays and musicals and will only consider material created by Canadian artists.
Any writer who has not received a premiere professional production (by a Canada Council-funded organization) is welcome to submit their play at any time. Email your cover letter and script to email@example.com. We will do our best to get back to you in a timely manner.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept unsolicited manuscripts. Playwrights should email a synopsis of their play to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will request the entire script if we are interested.
2017/18 PLAYWRIGHTS IN RESIDENCE
Writers are chosen by invitation only.

Touchstone also has two programs that develop new work:
Flying Start brings an aspiring professional playwright, from final draft to premiere. The selected writer receives commission money to finish off a new script, workshopping and dramaturgical development, which then leads to a full professional production. Previous writers have been Jason Bryden, Sally Stubbs, Peter Boychuk, Briana Brown, and Jordan Hall.
In Tune - The Art of Canadian Musicals
In Tune is a biennial event that takes place in June. There have been three installations so far: 2011, 2013, and 2015. The largest In Tune yet, 2015 featured 10 days of masterclases, workshops, concerts, showcases, and discussion events. Check out our archival page from 2015 here. Plans are in the works now for June of 2017.
In Tune's goal is to create a community-wide consideration and celebration of new musicals in Canada, and experiment with scenarios that might encourage more work and greater success and profile for work created. It is a development event for new work, a showcase of almost-finished work, and a networking event for audience and theatre community.
There is no formal call for material, but there are workshopping opportunities available for in-progress Canadian musicals. If you have a project you would like considered, please send an email and one page show description to email@example.com.
