goPLAY Youth Theatre Club

goPLAY is Up and Running!

Are you in High School and LOVE Theatre?

Want to see a bunch of plays for free and hang out with Vancouver’s most happening professional theatre artists?

The goPLAY program arose from our desire to give young people exposure to amazing theatre they may not have been aware, along with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the art form. Over the course of the school year the club will attend 10 plays – roughly one a month – which will sample the broad spectrum of what Vancouver has to offer the theatre goer. We will see all styles of work - from classic texts to cutting edge modern plays to devised and site-specific pieces.  Immediately preceding each performance Touchstone’s Artistic Director Katrina Dunn will give a short introductory lecture on the show, its themes, history and theatrical practices. After the show, the club will meet up with one of the artists involved in the production for an intimate insider’s view of the play and its rehearsal process. It's an incredible way to super-charge your theatre IQ and take in the best theatre in town!

As well, each participant will have the opportunity to work on Touchstone’s Dark Night podcast – a monthly podcast hosted by Joel Grinke profiling and discussing all the theatre of the moment happening in the city.

Questions about the program can be sent to to Touchstone’s Artistic Director Katrina Dunn at katrina@touchstonetheatre.com.
