Donald Adams, actor, Influence
For Touchstone, Donald has appeared in Cherry Docs, It’s All True (Jessie nomination), Kicked (Jessie award), Emphysema, Lisa Lisa, Strawberries in January, Little Mercy’s First Murder, Prodigal Son, and Tideline. Other Vancouver theatre highlights include Hamlet (Stanley Theatre-Jessie nomination), Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands (Electric Co.-Jessie award), Down Dangerous Passes Road (Ruby Slippers), Merchant of Venice and Macbeth (Bard on the Beach), Agamemnon (Christ Church Cathedral), and Peer Gynt (Blackbird). Most recently, he played a lead role in the MGM feature The Betrayed, as well as principal roles in The Guard (Global), Another Cinderella Story (Warner Premier), and The Marvel Comic Special (animated). Donald continues to run The Shakespeare Centre, which provides ongoing Shakespearean training to professional actors. In May, he directed, produced and played the title role in their showcase production of King Lear.
Daniel Arnold, actor, Influence
Daniel happily returns to Touchstone after playing Wilfrid in Tideline for which he received a Jessie nomination. Owen Belton, sound design / composer, Influence
Owen Belton graduated from Simon Fraser University in 1993 with a degree in Fine and Performing Arts (concentration, Music), and studied music composition with Barry Truax and Owen Underhill. In his work, he uses both acoustic and electronic instruments, often in combination with computer processing techniques. Over the last ten years he has written music for many dance companies such as Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal [bjm_danse], Stuttgart Ballet, the Cullberg Ballet, the National Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theatre, Kidd Pivot, and most recently the Royal Ballet, working with a number of Canadian choreographers including Crystal Pite and Matjash Mrozewski. He has recently branched out into the theatre world as well, creating the score for Tideline in November 2007 and for Clark & I Somewhere in Connecticut in January 2008.
David Bloom, director, Palace of the End
David Bloom is co-artistic director of Felix Culpa (with Linda Quibell) for whom he wrote Revenge, My Holiday Photos from Afghanistan and co-wrote or co-created Bawdy, Trouser Parts, Savage Council and projects for HIVE and HIVE2. For Touchstone he has performed in Clay, White Biting Dog, Unity 1918 and Apple. His plays have been performed by Green Thumb, Studio 58, Carousel, Axis Theatre, CanadianPhoenix and the University of British Columbia. Other directing work for Felix Culpa includes the North American premiere of Howard Barker's Und, Savage Council, Bawdy, Judith, Trouser Parts, The Compleat Works of Love, 'Tis Pity She's a Whore, The Figures Underneath and his play Two in The Morning which was produced in Vancouver and London, England. He has directed shows in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Calgary, Kamloops, Thunder Bay, Whitehorse and London.

Linda Griffiths, playwright, Age of Arousal
Playwright and actor Linda Griffiths exploded on to the Canadian Theatre scene in the early 80’s with her one-woman-show Maggie and Pierre, which toured Canada and played Off-Broadway. Since then she has been nominated for, or won, every significant playwriting award in the country. Her plays are highly theatrical, magical, literate and popular. An anthology of her work, Sheer Nerve: Seven Plays by Linda Griffiths was published in 1999.

Marcella Hyde, stage manager, Influence
Marcella is very pleased to return to Touchstone Theatre, after assistant stage managing League of Nathans, The Trigger, and Little Mercy’s First Murder for the company. She is The Only Animal’s resident Stage Manager and has worked on most of their productions, including Other Freds, dog eat dog, and Bangs and Buddha. Marcella will be Stage Managing Nix in Calgary in February, a co-production between Alberta Theatre Projects and The Only Animal. Nix, Canada’s first outdoor snow and ice theatre, is slated to perform at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler. Other favourite past productions include We Three Queens (Caravan Farm Theatre), Trying (Playhouse Theatre Company), Palace Grande (Electric Company Theatre) and British Installation Theatre (VECC). Marcella is also planning her wedding, which will premiere next summer in Richmond.
Pam Johnson, set designer, Age of Arousal
Pam’s first show with Touchstone and the Belfry Theatre was Home Work and Curtains in 1990. Then in 1992 she was part of the # 14 Bus phenomenon. In 1994 she designed the co-production with the Arts Club, The Visit. For the Arts Club Pam has designed, Moms the Word 2: Unhinged, Jacque Brell, Memory of Water, All My Sons, Under the Influence, Side by Side by Sondheim, andcostumes for Blues in the Night, and Closer than Ever. Pam is an instructor at Studio 58 and is going into her 20th season at the Playhouse Theatre designing, Miss Julie: Summer freedom, and Top Girls.
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh, costume design, Palace of the End
Farnaz Khaki-Sadigh is glad to be returning to work on another production with Touchstone Theatre. She has spent the past four years working as a costume designer in the film industry working on several television films and couple of Features. She graduated from university of British Columbia in 2002 with a BFA in theatre technical and design (major in costumes) and has a diploma in fashion design. Some of her previous work includes Prodigal Son, The Trigger and League of Nathans for Touchstone Theatre, Tideline a co-production of Touchstone and neworldtheatre and Kiss The Moon, Kiss The Sun for Western Canada Theatre. Farnaz looks forward to keeping her roots alive by working on one or two theatre shows a year and continuing on expanding her experience in the film industry.

Jennifer is excited to be working with Touchstone Theatre and the Arts Club on such a wonderfully provocative play. She has recently returned to Vancouver after spending three seasons at the Stratford Festival. Yvan is happy to continue his collaboration working with Touchstone Theatre, where he’s previously designed sets for The Dissemblers, How it Works, Strawberries in January, Family Way, Hosanna, Prodigal Son and Hippies and Bolsheviks His designs have also been seen on most stages around Vancouver, including the Art’s Club Theatre, the Vancouver Playhouse and Bard on the Beach. Recent credits also include John and Beatrice for Pi Theatre, The View from Above for Ruby Slippers, and Skydive for Reelwheels projects. He has also stage and tour managed with the CBC Radio Orchestra, The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Chamber Choir, and Musica Intima. Yvan is a graduate of Studio 58.
Hannah Moscovitch, playwright, East of Berlin
East of Berlin is the second full-length play from young Toronto upstart Hannah Moscovitch. Her breakthrough first work, The Russian Play landed her spots in the Playwrights Units of both the National Arts Centre and The Tarragon Theatre. A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and one of the most sought after young playwrights in the country, Hannah is presently working on new projects for numerous Canadian Theatres.
Janet Munsil, playwright, Influence
Victoria-based playwright and producer Janet Munsil is inspired by memoirs of the forgotten, dusty museum cabinets, and curious historical coincidences. Her plays have been produced by some of the most respected and adventurous contemporary theatres, both at home and abroad – Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre, London's Soho Theatre, and the West Yorkshire Playhouse, among others. Her literary sensibility and wild imagination have put her on the cutting edge of new Canadian drama.

Mindy Parfitt is co-Artistic Director of Horseshoes & Hand Grenades Theatre. For them, she has directed both their award winning productions - Sarah Kane’s 4.48 Psychosis and Daniel MacIvor’s You Are Here. In Montreal, where she founded SoulfishingTheatre for whom she directed and acted in several award winning productions, she has worked with companies that include Centaur Theatre, Tornado Theatre and Imago Theatre. While living in Toronto she has worked with Theatre Columbus, Dark Horse Theatre and Tarragon Theatre. Since returning to Vancouver she has worked for Studio 58, Bard on the Beach, Playwrights Theatre Centre and The PuSh Festival. Mindy has also had the pleasure of working on new scripts and collective creations across Canada. Her first professional directing job was an award winnning production of Judith Thompsons’ Crackwalker.
Joshua Reynolds, assistant director, Influence
Born and raised in North Vancouver, recent theatre credits include The Jungle Book (Musical Theatreworks), The Odyssey (Carousel Theatre, Jessie Nomination for Outstanding Performance), Chasing the Money (Green Thumb Theatre, Dora Nomination for Outstanding Performance), Cymbeline and A Midsummer Nights Dream (Bard on the Beach), Macbeth (Pound of Flesh), From Parts Unknown… (Second Best Bird Theatre), Killing Caesar (Rubicon Theatre) and The Dunsmuirs: Alone at the Edge and Arsenic and Old Lace (Chemainus Theatre Festival). He has written the play From Parts Unknown… and directed Borderlines for Second Best Bird Theatre Company of which he is the Artistic Director. Joshua has also served as fight director for Orphans (Wink Theatre), Leading Ladies (Gateway Theatre) and is a graduate of the University of British Columbia BFA Acting Program.

Most recently Robin was the TD and Directed for the first time for the Walking Fish Festival. Robin has worked in various capacities for the Richmond Gateway, Musical Theatre Works, Western Gold Theatre, Touchstone Theatre, neworld Theatre, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, Small Brown Paper Bag Productions, Theatre One, Urban Ink, Little Apples Equity Co-op, Section 8, Hoarse Raven, Rumble Theatre, Carousel Theatre, Pacific Theatre, Quickchange productions, TUTS, The Arts Club, and The Vancouver Playhouse. Robin has been seen on Stargate SG1, Davinci’s Inquest, Psych, and Men In Trees. Robin is a Graduate of Studio 58.
David Roberts, set designer, Influence
This project has afforded David a rare opportunity to indulge his obscure interests in early 19th century literature, painting and costume and to engage at a much deeper level in the discussion about art and its “ownership”. Recent shows include Having Hope at Home for the Chemanius Festival, Twelfth Night and King Lear for Bard on the Beach, The Eighth Land for Pi Theatre and Tiny Apocalypse for Rough House. David is the recipient of a number of Jessie nominations and awards. He is a graduate of Emily Carr University and earned an MA in Scenography in 2002 at London’s Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and DAMU, Prague. David is a member of ADC and is most passionate about the role of the designer as a key player in authoring work.
Russell Roberts, actor, Palace of the End
Russell Roberts' professional career, spanning 30 years and over 200 theatre, film, TV, and radio productions, has taken him from Charlottetown to Victoria and New York to Los Angeles, from Moliere to Mamet and Shakespeare to Shafer. He has appeared locally with the Vancouver Playhouse (Fiddler on the Roof), Arts Club (Elizabeth Rex, To Kill a Mockingbird), Pi Theatre, Felix Culpa and performed four seasons of leading roles with Bard on the Beach (including Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead for which he received a Jessie nomination) where he was seen this past summer playing the title role in the acclaimed Titus Andronicus. Most recently, he appeared as Ray in Rumble Theatre’s Blackbird. He is married to actor Colleen Winton, they have two sons, and live in New Westminster.
Jonathan Ryder, lighting design, Influence
Jonathan completed a BA Honours degree in Drama in 1989 at the
University of Saskatchewan, and has since worked as a technician,
technical director, stage manager, production manager, writer,
actor, director, producer and lighting designer. In Vancouver,
he has designed for Kidd Pivot Dance, Edam Dance, Touchstone Theatre,
Carousel TYA, Green Thumb TYA, MovEnt, Mandala Arts, Coriograph
Theatre, Modern Baroque Opera, Theatre Terrific, the shameless
hussies, Judith Marcuse Projects, NeWorld Theatre, Theatre Replacement
and Studio 58. Jonathan is currently the Production Manager at
the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. Fortunately, he can get away
from there occasionally to work on projects like this brand new
theatrical gem by Janet Munsel; and he's thrilled to be engaged
with the talented artistic team that Touchstone has assembled
for this production.
Laara Sadiq, actor, Palace of the End
Laara Sadiq, a UBC graduate and multiple Jessie Richardson Award winner works extensively in theatre, television, film and voice-over. Recent productions include No Exit (Electric Company), Pink Sugar (Solo Collective), Hecuba (Blackbird Theatre). No stranger to Touchstone Theatre (Life After God, The Family Way, 15 Seconds, The Orphan Muses), Ms. Sadiq has performed locally and beyond with the Vancouver Playhouse, Arts Club, neworldtheatre, Caravan Farm Theatre, Gateway Theatre, Belfry Theatre, National Arts Centre, Brooklyn Academy of Music and others.In addition to numerous film and television credits, Ms. Sadiq provides ‘the voice’ for radio and TV commercials, cartoons and documentaries throughout Canada and the US. Mike Stack, actor, Influence
Mike is a Jessie award-winning actor and teaching artist who makes his home in Vancouver. He is delighted to be working with Touchstone again, having previously performed in Farther West and Sled. Other memorable productions include The Overcoat (Vancouver Playhouse), Peter Pan (Carousel Theatre), The Fall of the House of Usher and Alphonse (Pink Ink), and Travesties (Globe Theatre, Regina). Most recently, he has been on various international tours with The Number 14 (Axis Theatre), performing throughout North America, Japan, and Europe. Mike also works extensively with young people, as coordinator of the Young Shakespeareans program at Bard on the Beach, resident guest director at Templeton Secondary in East Van, and throughout the Homelearning community. Mike is a graduate of Studio 58.
Judith Thompson, playwright, Palace of the End
Judith Thompson’s masterful contribution to playwriting spans three decades and has helped to define Canada’s identity on the world stage. Touchstone has been involved with her work since the 80’s with memorable productions of The Crackwalker, White Biting Dog and Sled. A recipient of the Order of Canada and a two-time Governor General’s Award-winner, Judith recently became the first Canadian to be awarded the prestigious international Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for Palace of the End.
Gwynyth Walsh, actor, Age of Arousal
Gwynyth Walsh was born in Winnipeg and raised in Vancouver. She studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts, and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alberta. Canadian theatre credits include work with The Stratford and Charlottetown Festivals, The Citadel, MTC, The Centaur Theatre and in Vancouver, Pacific Theatre and Blackbird. Plays include Mary Stuart, The Domino Heart, Prospero in The Tempest (Jessie nomination), Much Ado About Nothing (Dramalogue Award), King Lear et cetera. John is always happy to be back working with Touchstone Theatre, and is looking forward to working with the Arts Club for the first time as a Lighting Designer. John started designing in Vancouver in the early 1990’s and over the years has had the privilege of working with some of the city’s most talented and adventurous artists, receiving many design awards and nominations along the way. Highlights from past seasons include: Copper Thunderbird, a National Arts Centre and Urban Ink co-production, No Exit with the Electric Company and Virtual Stage, Heuba with Blackbird Theatre, and a Jessie Award for his work on Tiny Apocalypse. Highlights for the upcoming season include the Half Life at the Belfry Theatre, for both Set and Lighting Design, and Blackbird for Theatre Conspiracy and Rumble Productions, among many others. www.johnwebber.ca

This is Colleen’s debut with Touchstone Theatre. Upcoming: Toronto Mississippi (Vancouver Playhouse), Lifesavers (Ruby Slippers). She has also performed in various television shows and films and has provided voices for many animated characters and commercials.Colleen graduated, with distinction, from the University of Alberta's B.F.A. (Acting) Program and is the recipient of four Jessie Richardson Awards.
Sheila White, costume design, Influence
Sheila designed How It Works for Touchstone last year. Other shows in the last year include True West (The Playhouse), The Violet Hour (Belfry), Pink Sugar (Solo Collective), Company (The Arts Club) and The Boyfriend (Langara - Studio 58). She also designed the costumes for Drum Song a video playing at Canada House during the Beijing Olympics and co-ordinating the costumes for Stan Douglas’ Woodwards Project.. The wardrobe for the recently aired Dominic DaVinci TV Movie and the series Intelligence were also done by Sheila. Upcoming shows include The History Boys at The Arts Club and Ash Girl at Capilano University. She is a member of the Associated Designers of Canada and IATSE 891.
Frank Zotter, actor, Influence
Frank made Vancouver his home after graduating from the National Theatre School. Back then he got his start with Touchstone Theatre in Unidentified Human Remains and continued acting in productions at the Playhouse, The Arts Club, Green Thumb, the Playwrights Theatre Centre and more recently with Bard on the Beach. Out east career highlights include; playing Puck at the Stratford Festival, joining the acting ensemble at the Court Theatre in Chicago, and making an Off-Broadway debut at the Abingdon Theatre. He has received four Betty Mitchell nominations and one Sterling nomination.
